cultural references to Fiesta

Fiesta or the sun comes up also, is the first novel by Hemingway. Before reading, I read his latest novel, The Old Man and the Sea.

Both novels are, to some extent on the Spanish language. The second focuses on Cuba, the first in Spain.
The Old Man and the Sea, the writer is often the player with the Spanish language. For example, when talking about "el mar considered" and "Mar" The differences between the sea and the sea.

In the Fiesta, there are many culturalReferences. Writing novels is basically culture and as a writer living culture. If the Fiesta is European culture from American culture. And between the first two, there are many differences in how the culture of Paris and the decline of culture - much closer to nature - just across the border with France, Spain, with mountains and, of course, bullfights.

There are many explicit references, such as human rightsRepresentatives of ethnic background:
"He had a tough, jew, stubborn, stick ..." and "... was a Canadian and had all their simple ways .."

There is also a reference to an Italian hospital "Hospital" ... In Man and the Sea, the hero football players as "Di Maggio .."

In the second book, the culinary culture becomes care:
"The first meal in Spain was always a shock with the hors d'oeuvres, and of course eggs, two meat dishes, vegetables, salad, dessert andFruit ... Drink lots of wine, all down. "

About Gender:
".. I could not say that in New York (who is powerless). Mean, I was an idiot. This was what the Civil War ended. Abraham Lincoln was an idiot. .. It was love at General Grant. ' So he says, that here in Europe is ok (for Jake) had to be impotent, but not in a country like the U.S. (then?) "

About passion
He is an aficionado too? "Pastime" means passion. AAficionado is someone who is passionate about bullfighting. Americans are passionate about? And they are citizens of Spain, more passionate, as have fights?

Somewhere in the book three:
"You never know if a Spanish waiter will thank you. Everything is on a clear financial basis in France. It 's the easiest country to live in. .. If people like you, you have to spend a bit' of money I . (nothing seems to have changed.)

But what to think ofThe history in general, in terms of culture? Bullfighting - other than the Fiesta of San Fermin - not cover the negative freedom of association today. The story is deliberately in contrast to the boring life in Paris, at a time just after the First World War.

Interpretation of history could be that it is natural, the Fiesta is living in Spain, including bullfights and bulls in the streets, as in Paris, where people have nothing to do live. Hemingway mustpreferred culture closer to nature.

Or in a modern criticism are: culture is drifting farther and farther from nature.
