Treasure hunt ideas for the history of the world

Launch and hosting parties, scavenger hunt can be an explosion. But sometimes you want to change things up a bit 'and have a specific theme. One idea which I think is funny current focus - and sometimes not so modern - the events. We had a treasure hunt or presidential focus more on things and leaders of the past. How about a treasure hunt ideas for the history of the world?

Remember the war trials, and tribulations that have suffered a planet at all like it. Weassume some knowledge of history in a game, like many good teachers. For example, the information treasure hunt would be the point of war to pictures of some types of uniforms during civil des Or we might have an idea to say something, where the pilgrims landed, when he settled in the United States, and large rock label faced with a "Plymouth Rock".

Maybe not the most creative, searching for clues in the world, but the point is there. Much of this type ofScavenger game can be played online, find pictures of things that have shaped our world.

Another example: with a rhyme describing George Washington, as it is, "Hello, I am, I was the first president, and I cut a cherry tree." The mission of the child or student involved in the hunt would be to find a picture of Mr. Washington on the computer.

There are many other ways to do this type of game, and the idea is to get children involved in learningWorld history.

The History of Father's Day

Father's Day is a non-religious holiday that honors fathers. It's celebrated on a variety of different days in many different countries, but the most common day for Father's Day celebrations is the third Sunday in June.

The first Father's Day was celebrated in Fairmount, West Virginia. According to tradition, an explosion in a nearby coal mine killed 361 men from the area, 250 of which were fathers. Stricken by the loss, the townspeople honored the request of Grace Golden Clayton, who believed the town should start a tradition of honoring fathers. The first Father's Day fell on July 5, 1908.

However, the holiday didn't gain national interest that year. In an unrelated event a year later, Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington suggested a special day to pay tribute to fathers after hearing a sermon honoring Mother's Day. Dodd had special reason to honor her own father, who had been a civil war veteran. When Mr. Dodd's wife died in childbirth, he refused to marry again; instead, he raised Sonora and his other children by himself.

Dodd went on to promote Father's Day as a national holiday. In 1926, a national committee on Father's Day was formed in New York City. In 1956, Congress passed a joint resolution recognizing Father's Day. In 1966, President Johnson signed a proclamation endorsing Father's Day. In 1972, President Nixon made it permanent by declaring it an official holiday.

Today, Father's Day is used as a day to honor dads all over the world with gifts and cards. You can show your appreciation for your father by getting him the perfect gift-or simply spending a little time together.

A History Of Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a holiday born out of the ashes of the American Civil War. The earliest known celebration was in 1865. In Charleston, S.C., the racetrack there had been converted into a prison camp for the confederate army. A parade of freed slaves and union soldiers held a picnic there when the Civil War ended. Afterwards, several southern states began to hold observances for their war dead that came to be known as "Dedication Day."

Army General, John Logan, was impressed at how the southern soldiers paid respects to their Civil War dead. In Waterloo, N.Y. on 5 May 1866, he observed "Dedication Day" in the north. Two years later on the same day in 1868, he issued a proclamation that "Dedication Day" observed nationwide. On 30 May 1868, Logan had the tombs of fallen Union soldiers decorated because it was a date in which no major Civil War battles had taken place and time could be spared to honor the dead.

New York was the first state to officially recognize "Dedication Day" in 1873. After World War I, the theme behind the day changed from honoring Civil War dead to honoring all Americans who had fought and died in any war.

Have you ever wondered why Veteran's organizations sell poppies, real and artificial, around Memorial Day? The idea was born out of World War I. Poet Moina Michael, inspired by the poem, "In Flanders Fields," wrote her own about wearing red poppies which was supposed to symbolize the blood of those soldiers who had served during wartime. She then began to wear red poppies on "Dedication Day," as her way of honoring the war dead. The idea caught on and shortly before "Dedication Day" in 1922, the VFW became the first organization to sell poppies nationally. Nowadays you'll find VFW's selling mostly artificial poppies on Memorial Day, a testament to Michael's poem and her actions.

In 1882, "Memorial Day," was first used as an alternate name or "Dedication Day," but it wasn't until after World War II did it become more common. In 1967 the federal government passed legislation making "Memorial Day" the official name of the holiday.

The federal government also changed Memorial Day from 30 May to the last Monday in May to facilitate a three-day weekend in 1968. Since then, Americans in general, have gotten away from the meaning and traditions of the holiday and there's been a recent push in Congress to change the holiday back to 30 May.

Some traditions associated with the holiday include a national moment of silence at three p.m. EST, the U.S. flag is flown at half staff from down until noon, and volunteers still place a U.S. flag on each grave in the Arlington National Cemetery.

Glass beadmaking history is one of the important details that must not be forgotten by us. It played a major role in our society nowadays especially if fashion matters. It is believed that the Egyptian era made the ever first glass bead called Faience. They were also the first to discovered wounding, core and mosaic methods. It is believe that wounding is the easiest way of making glass beads that is being done by many nowadays. In Egyptian era, they were the ones who first developed glass-beadmaking guilds and also in imitating precious stones like Lapiz Lazuli and Turquoise, which are opaque like the real stones. Nowadays Egypt is known for making beautiful and colourful necklaces, bracelets and anklets used in African society.

In the other eras in glass beadmaking history, they have discovered different methods like the blown pipe method which is the process of allowing artisan to expand, from the inside of the bead and eliminating the weight and shear amount of glass for core forming method. They also discovered the hollow cane drawn method which is the cheapest and fastest way of making glass beads. Until now Venice remained as one of the top producers of glass beads and still makes different kinds of elegant glass beads. These eras really made a big contribution in glass beadmaking history that's why we have learned to make beautiful glass beads that is being done until now with more modern and stylish pieces.

In modern times, we can say that glass beadmaking history will never be forgotten as long as we still make different kinds of beads. History of Western Wear

You do not have to look far to find out where the origins of Western clothes, if you hear stories of the Wild West, only the old cowboy movies, or music of the stars of country music. Western wear was named by a unique style of clothing for men and women in the 19 Century American West, carried. It has undergone many changes since the early days of the Wild West with its open areas, car trains, cattle drives, outlaws and famous. The clothes worn by legendsthe west such as Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid, and Wild Bill Hickock is decidedly different from most of today's western fashions, but it was this era that laid the foundations to the western fashion we know and wear today. The cowboy way was a way of life throughout the American west up until the early 1900s.

Western apparel got started along with those who were known as cowboys after the American Civil War. Ranchers in Texas had to find a market for their large excess stock of cattle. Meanwhile, on the east coast beef was in short supply. Thus, the ranchers drove their cattle north to the nearest railroads, for example Fort Worth, which became a major shipping point for livestock in 1876. This prompted plans in 1887 for the construction of the Union Stockyards about two and one half miles north of the Tarrant County Courthouse. It went into full operation about 1889.

Mexican vaqueros and Americans fleeing the law also made up a large number of cowboys roaming the untamed west. The attire of these early cowboys was usually very plain and simple. Full length trousers made of canvas were tucked inside their cowboy boots, allowing them to ride several rough trails before their jeans wore out. Shirts of the early cowboy were usually cotton or wool, sometimes with simple pin striping, and had no collar. These shirts pulled over their heads with buttons running only partially down the front of the shirt. A bandana was worn to protect the neck of the cowboy from the elements while riding the trail, which was also used as a mask in dust storms as well as outlaws using them as a mask during bank raids and hold ups. A cowboy's hat was very practical and used for everything from protecting them from the sun, to providing them with something to drink out of when fresh water could be found. This is how, allegedly, the name the "Ten Gallon Hat" was born because of its ability to hold water.

The early days of Hollywood revived the old west spirit, the cowboy way of life, and sparked new interest in western wear across the nation. Gene Autry, John Wayne, and Roy Rogers lit up cinema screens and those of a certain generation will never forget our television screens filled popular western series such as Rawhide with Rowdy Yates (Clint Eastwood), Gunsmoke with Dennis Weaver as Chester and Bonanza with Little Joe (Michael Landon) all dressed in western apparel.

Western wear became prominent in pop culture during the 1960's with even the Beatles wearing cowboy boots. Western apparel popularised by this era included cowboy hats, fashionable cowboy boots and jeans, as well as collared shirts featuring designs and patterns.

Some of most articulate western wear is the custom work created by rodeo tailors such as Nudie Cohn and Manuel, which is characterised by elaborate embroidery and rhinestone decoration. This type of western wear, popularised by country music performers, is the origin of the phrase rhinestone cowboy.

Nashville's country music scene with has kept up the interest in the western fashion industry and the western way of life, and its artists, with such country stars as Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and Dwight Yokam all sporting cowboy hats, cowboy boots and clothing' have heavily influenced the western wear of today. Sand-blasted jeans, distressed leather, and ultra-casual dress have become the frontier in modern western apparel; which has become popular with line dancing, western riding, and western fashion together with country music fans all over the world. Classic western wear is still commonplace in American culture.

Some western companies focus on maintaining cowboy authenticity in their events, to support re-enactments, staged events, film and theatre. Western wear ranges from accurate historical reproductions of pioneer, mountain man, Civil War, cowboy and Mexican vaquero clothing to the stylised garments for the show business world.

PW Minor - history and quality

The footwear company P.W. Minor got it's start in 1886 when Peter Wycoff Minor (the original P.W.) and his younger brother Abrahm Vorhees decided to go into the shoe business. Like most American shoe manufacturers, they began mass-producing shoes after the Civil War.

Both brothers were veterans and witnessed the wide-scale need for uniform boots and shoes that was hideously apparent during the long years of fighting. (This marks a departure from the period in American shoe-making history when people would go to a cobbler to order shoes fitted specifically to their feet. With thousands of soldiers marching a long way from home, the army needed to issue boots to soldiers without measuring each soldier's feet first. They needed a system where sizes could be ordered in mass quantities.)

Minor Brothers Boots and Shoes opened in 1867. (Apparently someone later on in the company's history decided Abrahm Vorhees was not important enough to be included in the company's title!) With 20 shoemakers onboard, the Minor brothers began building their family's shoe empire, which continues today with Henry Minor III at the helm.

As the company developed, it decided to focus on orthopedic shoes. PW Minor now manufactures shoes for people with the following conditions: diabetes, arthritis, bunions, foot trauma, hammertoe, plantar fasciitis and metatarsalgia. Why do we wear new clothes for Easter - A history of tradition of a fashion school prospects

Many of us can remember our parents are dressed in new clothes, so you can each year at Easter in the neighborhood of our most beautiful parade. It 'been a fun tradition to look forward (or avoid, some fashion-phobic children were known to do) if we went to church or not. But where does this tradition here? A glance at history shows that its origins do not know what to expect we could. And the consideration by a fashion school term, we see a change in patterns of retailhave changed its meaning.

Origins in other cultures. Even if we dress in spring with Easter is the connection of new tradition is ancient. Pagan believers celebrated the spring equinox with a celebration in honor of taverns, the Teutonic goddess of spring, and believed that the new clothes brought happiness. The Iranian New Year celebrated on the first day of spring, rooted in ancient tradition pre-Islamic past. ThisTraditions are for spring cleaning and new clothes for the renewal and optimism. Similarly, the Chinese have celebrated the Spring Festival, also known as Lunar New Year, wearing new clothes. It symbolizes not only new approaches, but the idea that people have more than you need.

Christian origins. In the early days of Christianity, new Christians were baptized at Easter robes of white linen to symbolize rebirth and new life. But it was not until300 AD, BC that the use of new clothes was an official decree, as the Roman Emperor Constantine declared that his court must wear new clothes on Easter best. Eventually, the tradition has come to the end of Lent, Mark, weeks later, when wearing the same clothes, admirers of old discarded clothes for new ones.

Superstition. A proverb from the 15th century by poor Robin's Almanac, said that if they are not new clothes at Easter, it would have been unlucky: "At EasterYour clothes are new, but for sure or you'll be sorry. "In the 16th century during the reign of the Tudors, it was believed, unless the person was new dress for Easter, moths would eat the old, and the crow's nest would be bad around their homes.

Post civil war. Easter as we know it is not celebrated in America until after the Civil War. Before this time, Puritans and the Protestant churches do not see any good purpose in religiousCelebrations. After the devastation of war, but saw the Eastern Churches as a source of hope for Americans. Easter is called "Sunday of Joy", and the women exchanged the dark colors of mourning for the lucky color of spring.

The Easter parade. In 1870, he began the tradition of the Easter Parade in New York, where women adorned in their most fashionable clothes and more recently has been among the beautiful Gothic church on Fifth Avenue. The paradehas become one of the most important events of fashion design, a precursor of New York Fashion Week, if you want. He was known throughout the country and the people who were poor or the middle class would be the privileged witness to observe the latest fashion trends. Soon clothing trade leveraged the popularity of the Easter parade and use as a marketing tool in selling their clothing. By the end of the century, the holiday is so important for retailers today is Christmas.

TheAmerican dream. By the mid 20th Century, very clean for the Passover had any religious significance, have had will be lost, and instead the symbol of American prosperity. A look at advertisements for vintage clothing in a library school fashion shows that the new clothes on Easter, something any healthy, families throughout the U.S. had to do was.

Attitudes of today. Although many of us can still don new clothes at Easter, the tradition does not feel as special, not because of religious ambivalence, but because they buy and wear new clothes every time. At a time in this country, middle-class families only once or twice a year, purchased from local memory or from a catalog. But in recent decades have been booming retail options. There is a gap at each corner, and numerous Internet dealers allow us 24 / 7 shops. No wonder that today's young people to listen to songs by Irving Berlin "Easter Parade" and have no idea what it means.

It 's interestingTo see where the tradition began of new clothes at Easter, and how it has evolved over the years, 's. Even with the changing times, but it is the custom continues in some form. Finally, a reason for high fashion store.
